Advocacy & Achievements- Doctors in Training Portfolio

 

The issues impacting doctors in Training are very important to the Rural Doctors' Association of NSW (RDANSW).  Doctors Jean Littlewood and Marty Ryan were re-elected to the Management Committee in 2022 to increase representation for the Doctors in Training Cohort.

Projects:

- Lobbying the Division of Regional Health for rural and metropolitan equality in pay and accommodation for JMOs

- Setting up regular correspondence between rural hospital JMO/RMO associations and the RDA NSW

- Regular newsletters that are specific to rural JMOs/registrars members, and those rurally minded

- Increasing JMO/registrar member base to help build an ongoing rural workforce

- Expanding the RDA NSW Facebook page and website to create greater opportunity for member feedback and interaction

- Providing regular #DestinationRural events to highlight the benefits of a rural medical career

- Supporting RG/GP registrar VMOs in their practice in NSW’s rural hospitals

- Providing education aimed at doctors-in-training at conferences and organised events

- Holding networking events to allow rural doctors from the community and hospitals to come together - from students to consultants
